Touch Wood

Part of Waygood Wood
Site Specific Installation
Castle Keep Newcastle upon Tyne
2008

A mobile grove of trees is housed in the darkened ground floor of the Castle Keep, which over time has served as chapel, garrison, prison, workshop and museum. Now converted to an indoor woodland, the darkened space echoes with ghostly sounds where visitors can negotiate their way by torchlight through the shadowy thicket.
